The Chakras
There are 7 major chakras. There are also many semi-major chakras in
the hands, feet, hips, knees, ankles and other major joints of the body. There are also
thousands of small chakras throughout the entire body.
The Seven Major Chakras
1st Root or Base
Chakra: Is located at the base of spine
(coccyx). It is associated with the color red. The base chakra is associated with the
Earth, its functions include: Life-force, survival, self-preservation and instincts. The
glands/organs associated with the base chakra are: adrenals, kidneys, and colon.
2nd Navel or
Sacral Chakra: Is located in the lower abdomen. It is associated with the color
orange. Functions include: Procreation, assimilation of food, physical force of vitality,
sexuality. Glands and organs: Ovaries, testicles, prostate, genitals, spleen, womb and
bladder.
3rd Solar Plexus Chakra: Is located above the navel and
below chest. It is associated with the color yellow. Functions: Vitalizes the sympathetic
nervous system, digestive processes, metabolism, and emotions. Glands and organs:
Pancreas, stomach, liver, gallbladder, nervous system, and muscles.
4th Heart Chakra: Is located in the center of the chest.
It is associated with the color green. Anchors
the life-force for the Higher Self. Energizes the blood and physical body with the
life-force. Blood circulation. Glands and organs: Heart, thymus gland, circulatory system,
arms, hands, lungs.
5th Throat Chakra: Is located in the throat and is
associated with the color blue. Functions: Speech, sound, vibration, and communication.
Glands and organs: Thyroid, parathyroid, hypothalamus, throat and mouth.
6th Third Eye Chakra: Is located in the middle of
forehead and is associated with the color indigo. Functions:
Vitalizes the lower brain, and central nervous system, vision. Glands and organs:
Pituitary gland, nose ears and eyes.
7th Crown Chakra: Is located on the top of the head and
is associated with the colors violet at the bottom to white at the top. Vitalizes the
upper brain. Glands and organs: Pineal gland, cerebral cortex and central nervous system.
