Awareness requires heightened consciousness
As a flashlight beam sheds light on a darkened room
so that we may see it's contents ....
So does heightened consciousness make us aware!

To Awareness

Who Are We?

Until we know and understand who we really are, we will never resolve our problems or life issues. Without knowing and understanding who we really are and first having a deep relationship with ourself, how can we relate well to others? How can we know what to do if we do not know who we are? If we hope to understand life, should we not first understand the one doing the understanding? All growth arises from the ancient truism ..."Know Thyself." The more we know and express our authentic self, the more meaning, joy and fulfillment we will have in our life.

It's been estimated that 80% of what we do, think and say is unconscious. When we start to become conscious of what is now unconscious, it is then that we gain the awareness we need to make sense of our life. How well do you know yourself? What unique gifts, talents and skills do you bring to this world? What specific issues represent your life challenges? How much of your life is controlled by your personality (ego) versus by the expansiveness of your soul? What are the underlying semi-conscious motives that run your life? What gives you meaning and purpose in life?

Those experiencing distress in their lives relates to their lack of awareness through consciousness. It's through discovering our life lessons and unresolved shadows in order to get a sense of our life purpose, soul essence and personality skills. Until we identify and understand these aspects, there is no way of knowing what to heal or what to express and aspire to ... until we gain more awareness of how our personality and soul interact, the fears of the ego will continue to deny us the ability of experiencing who we really are, deny us insights into what can be our next best growth step, where we are going, and in gaining a new perspective on our spiritual journey.

This is what this issue and Soul Soothers as a whole is all about ... to help build an awareness in you through each article, quote and poem so that you can come to know who you really are ... so that you can:

-- Gather Your Strengths and Uniqueness
-- Be Aware of Your Weaknesses and Challenges
-- Bring the ego into balance
-- Identify with Your Soul
-- Bring It All Together to Identify Who You Are

The inspirational short stories, quotes, special tips and thoughts in each issue are painstakingly selected, compiled and published to help you cultivate deeper understanding, discipline and clear intentions of who you are ... while at the same time you grow spiritually. Each issue is designed to help you identify your defenses, life themes, blocks to growth, victim statements, limiting beliefs ... to help you recognize and understand the messages from your body and emotions ... the values, qualities and virtues that come with connecting with your soul.

"It takes time and courage to identify
and grow into BEING who you really are."

Our Life Responds To Our Beliefs
author unknown

Life is largely a matter of what we hold in our belief systems.
If we want to succeed, we must believe that we will succeed.
So, set your goals high.
If you begin with some wild beliefs
you'll succeed beyond your wildest expectations.

When we believe things will happen,
strangely enough, they do happen.
Belief energizes our goals and gives them momentum.
When we believe something good can happen, it will happen.

The dreams we believe in come to be,
for it is part of the Law of Free Will ...
that what we believe, we will experience!

The greatest revolution we can offer is to
change the inner attitudes of our minds ...
only then will we change the outer aspects of our lives!"

Becoming Like Children Again
~ by Michael Bonamassa, Sr.

Ah, but to be like children again! They don't worry about where their next meal is coming from, who will be doing what to whom, or what they should be doing next month, next week, tomorrow, or even in the next moment. No, they just do what comes naturally ... whatever enters their little minds that will bring them joy and pleasure. Why is this so? It's so because they are just 'being' and haven't yet been taught the need to impose some order on life because there's only so much time in every day.

Have you ever stopped to think how we humans race to win against time? ... and at what price? Most of us are driven by the threat of time. We wonder why we feel so empty at the end of action-filled days ... flying through each day with our eyes always on the clock? Yes, this is because in western cultures we’ve been taught that we need to impose our own order on life. As a result, we've become obsessed with the need to control every aspect that comes up in each and every moment.

And another thing, what is it that we do with the time that is available to us? Are we like the children and just being who we really are? No, far from it. In all of our busyness, we're merely playing a role in life that is designed to receive the acceptance of those around us. This reminds me of something Neale Donald Walsch once said at a seminar I attended. He said: "Our biggest problem as humans is our lack of self-love." ... and so we try to receive this love from others through their acceptance of us. He continued with "Until we love ourselves enough to have everyone leave the room and not think anything about it, we will continue to play this non-sensical role."

How much of "what you do and how you are" is put in place by you in order not to raise the ire of others, or in order to be approved of? How much of it is really "you" and how much of it is "the You that you think you have to be in order for others to stay in the room"?

What all of this has to do with is that we need to enter into a new relationship with time ... to take back the power we've given to the clock ... because in our illusionary reality, no matter how much time exists, it will never be enough. It's no wonder that when we're in this mode day after day, we never have time for what we really want to do in life?

So, how do we take back our power from this inanimate thing we call time? We have to become like children again and start using our time to do whatever it is that we want to do. I'm not talking about the obvious immoral behaviors that are imposed upon others or cause harm to others. I'm talking about setting ourselves free to do some of the not-so-obvious stuff. If you still don't know what I mean, take the time sometime to watch a child at play or at anytime whenever ... because the child in its innocence is just being that which God created it to be ... free and 'being' whatever happens to tickle its fancy in any given moment. Why can't we all be free children of God ... and act like it ... all during the day? Well, of course, we can. The question is, 'why don't we?'

It goes back to that role that we are so used to being in. It's because we're afraid ... afraid of what others might think, and we may be even more afraid of what we might do. So, if you haven't already done so, take just a moment right now to think about when you were a child. I did this recently after watching my youngest grandson at play and I thought "Oh, to be that age again!" Looking at him, I caught myself thinking: "Oh my, to have so much life still in front of me." And it was at that moment that I thought how keeping my eye on the clock did nothing but whittle time away from the things that really meant the most to me and how my priority now lied in becoming free to do things for myself and loved ones in the time that is left in my life.

Change your priorities and become like a child again and it will change at least the way you go through the rest of today. It did so for me and now I can say that I'm looking at every passing moment and it has now become my intention to add the best and the finest that is within me to each moments' passing space of time, because I want to experience myself as that 'Who I Am' in the eyes of God. I don't want to "waste" time being less than that. I owe those around me like my children, grandchildren and friends more than that. I owe God at least that much to give back just a little of what was given me in this journey we call life.

I am inviting you to make it your intention along with me to do what you can to make sure that every exchange of energy is equal. Look back and you will see how life has given us so much. And so its important that we have a willingness to give back. Don't get me wrong. It is not a requirement or something we have to do to make amends of any kind or anything like that. Rather, think of it as a wonderful invitation from life ... a desire, not a demand ... to give something back of what we have received, so that others might be better off for it. And so that our lives can go on in a particular way ... a way that is more than it was before.

Wouldn't it bring a sort of freedom to think that what we are giving back is being given to those who follow us ... to our children, and our children's children?

Go ahead, think about it, it's a way to look at life in a new way. It doesn't mean doing things to get the approval of others, but rather a willingness to bring joy to others, by simply being. It's a way to bring us back to ourselves ... to give us back to ourselves by simply being who we are really meant to be. It means returning to our childlike sense of fun and excitement and adventure and the magic of life ... it means returning to the wonder of who we really are.

Choose What You Want In Life!

Choice. It's all about freedom ... the freedom to pick one thing over another. Are you choosing what you want from life?

"Oh no," comes the reply. "I can't because … I haven't got enough education … I need to look after my family … I don't have enough money … I don't have the time." What's your excuse?

The truth is that we have choice in every single moment of our lives. For those who are destitute, the choices in life are fewer. But the rest of us often think we don't have freedom when we simply haven't claimed our power to choose differently.

How do you typically make decisions? Do you do so based on:

. "shoulds" ... doing what you believe you should do.

. "pleasing others" ... doing what others want or expect you to do.

. "fear" ... choosing the safe route for fear of doing something different.

. "habit and reaction" ... you don't even think about what you're doing--you've always done it this way?

On the other hand, you own your power to choose when you decide on the basis of:

. "desire" ... choosing something you want

. "need" ... responding to deeper desires

. "authenticity" ... you know who you are and what you stand for

. "creative expression" ... you strive to be more.

So how can you open to choose differently? Be clear about what you want. Have a sense of purpose. With a target to aim for, you'll know what will serve you best.

STOP and ASK yourself questions. "Why am I doing this? What do I want to achieve?" WRITE down your answers. Be more conscious of how you are spending your precious time, because this is your life passing by. This will help you say, "Wait! I don't want to do this anymore!"

Never allow yourself to play the victim. Victims merely give away their power. You alone are responsible for your life. When you fully accept this, you will claim your inner power to make better choices. Change often comes from nothing more than a shift in perspective.

Be open to possibilities for yourself. Select one area of your life where you are unsatisfied, and choose something new, something more for yourself. Do different things and do things differently. Risk more.

Empowerment arises from the three Cs ... choice, courage and change. They are yours to claim. You'll be astounded at how easy it will be to take charge once you've made up your mind to do so. You have the opportunity to create a future that's very different from your past. And remember: not choosing is also a choice.

"It is always your next move."
-- Napoleon Hill

"As a holistic being, you shatter the illusion of your
separateness and reveal your connection to everything. This
empowers you in a way that the ego-driven self could never contemplate."
-- Wayne Dyer

Your Soul's Path To Awareness And Love ...

If you are one who lives in the five physical senses and believe only what you can see, hear, touch, taste or smell ... that which only lies within your physical mind's understanding ... then it's safe to say that you are in the lowest frequency of vibration, in the densest form of matter and lost in the world of physicality.

Sooner or later, however, a time will come when you will awaken and find nothing important in your current existence ... when material things or your external doings do not bring the joy and happiness you expected ... and all of those activities with which you have been filling your life, do not solve the problems nor relieve the pain that fear has brought to you. When this awakening begins, then it's time to do something different ... it's time to go beyond such extremes of blindness ... it's time to get on your Soul's spiritual path to love and awareness.

All happenings and manifestations in your life begin with your thoughts. It is the thinking physical mind that gives rise to the emotions and passions of physicality. Therefore, as a first step toward this transformation, it's important that you learn how your thoughts give rise to those problems that appear on a regular basis. You do this by examining your thought patterns through a process called "watchfulness"... a process which will allow you to discover your source of suffering and bring that grasping and continuing cycle of pain to an end. It is a way through which you observe yourselves in order to understand ... and through practice ... overcome the manifestations of unconscious thought ... a way to know the underlying nature of your controlling ego.

Many use the process of meditation to do this ... a means of quieting the busy chatter of the physical mind so that they might better identify and get in touch with their intuition ... the mind and thoughts of the Soul. Becoming totally integrated with the innate purity of your being ... the Soul ... the Higher Self ... is total realization. It is a time when you return to the all-knowingness of the soul, but only at various intervals ... in and out and in and out. When you can achieve this integration all of the time, then you have reached that final realization known as enlightenment.

Getting from total realization to enlightenment can happen relatively quickly or it can take many many years, depending on the spiritual path you decide to follow. This is why it is very important to choose the teachings that come to you very carefully. You will normally choose the path which you think will benefit you the most. Very often, this is the path you find most intellectually stimulating. However, you often will make this choice in a very limited way because of the way you feel or according to what you think is important to you based on the circumstances that surround your day-to-day life.

A Special Blessing to You and Yours ...
Until next week ...
These things, we warmly wish for you-

We wish you a day of happiness full of satisfaction ...
We wish you little bite-size pieces of perfection
that give you the funny feeling that God is smiling on you,
holding you so gently because you are someone special and rare.
And we wish you and yours
a day of Peace, Happiness and Joy!

Love and Light,
Mike & Sandy
